Tara M. Iacono, DMSc, PA-C

Hi, I’m Tara.

I’m Tara Iacono, DMSc, PA-C, a physician assistant specializing in psychiatry and addiction medicine with nearly two decades of clinical experience. I hold a Doctorate in Medical Science with a concentration in Healthcare Administration and Leadership, and I have built my career at the intersection of evidence-based psychiatry, compassionate care, and telehealth innovation.

My practice is rooted in a functional health psychiatry approach, which extends beyond diagnosis and symptom management to explore the underlying biological, psychological, and environmental factors that influence mental health. While I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and medication management—including extensive experience with Medication-Assisted Treatment for substance use disorders—I also work with patients to identify root contributors such as inflammation, stress physiology, trauma, life history, and other barriers that may interfere with healing and long-term recovery.

I have practiced across the full continuum of care, including inpatient detoxification, residential treatment, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient psychiatry, much of it delivered through secure, high-quality telemedicine platforms. I specialize in the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, and I tailor treatment plans to the individual rather than a diagnosis alone.

In addition to clinical care, I am deeply committed to education and mentorship. I have trained physician assistant and medical students from multiple academic institutions, led national CME initiatives in virtual medicine, lectured on addiction treatment, and published on modernizing care delivery for opioid use disorder. Across all aspects of my work, my goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized, and outcomes-driven psychiatric care that supports meaningful and lasting improvement.
